Doors Open Days - Highland - September 2009

Doors Open Day, which is a joint initiative between the Council of Europe and the European Union, aims to give people the opportunity to explore some of Europe’s most interesting buildings, many of which are not normally accessible to the public.

In 1990, it was piloted in Scotland and since then, Doors Open Days, which is Scotland’s contribution to European Heritage Days, have become an annual event across the country, co-ordinated by the Scottish Civic Trust and supported by Historic Scotland.

If you have ever wondered what goes on behind the doors of buildings you see every day, then this is your chance to find out. Throughout the month of September, buildings all over the Highlands will be open free of charge.

Doors Open Day will take place in Inverness on Saturday 05 September 2009.  Please note, some buildings in Inverness will also be open on other Saturdays in September.  Due to a technical glitch the Doors Open Day leaflet for Highland can be downloaded from the "Grants" page - sorry about that!

Some people have reported a problem accessing the web page for Inchidown Oil Storage Tanks - if you would like to book a tour of these tunnels (tours at 9am, 11am, 1pm and 3pm) please contact 01738 771055

If you would prefer a printed leaflet sent out to you - please feel free to contact us and we will arrange to send this out to you.
